SOLAR (PV) SITE ASSESSMENTS
Solar Electric Site Assessments
One way to reduce your dependence on nonrenewable fossil fuels is to install solar panels and associated equipment at your site to generate a portion or all of your electric needs using nonpolluting renewable energy. In addition, connecting your system to the utility grid will allow you to sell surplus power to the utility.
The certified solar electric or photovoltaic (PV) site assessments we provide will help determine if your site is a good candidate for a solar electric system. A site assessment includes the following:
A basic analysis of your energy needs.
Recommendations for energy efficiency to help lower your energy use and reduce the size of the renewable energy system you need.
An evaluation of the renewable energy resources (unobstructed sunshine) based on a shade analysis performed using the Solar Pathfinder instrument and computer software.
- Recommendations for size and type of renewable energy system to meet your energy needs.
Estimated output of the renewable energy system, based on the resource estimate, which will help determine the amount of money Focus on Energy may reimburse for the completed installation.
Information on the best place for the system.
A general cost estimate for the system.
A site assessment is a good place for an engineering or architectural firm to start when designing a PV system or developing a request of proposal. SolaRain can follow up the site assessment with system design assistance using advanced computer design and simulation software.
Depending on the complexity of the site, assessments by SolaRain™ LLC can be completed starting at $400 for residential sites, and $600 for non-residential sites.
A more thorough overview of how you can assess your property’s renewable energy potential is provided at Focus on Energy here.
Wisconsin Focus on Energy Cash-Back Rewards and federal tax credits can cover up to half the cost of a small solar electric system during the system’s first year! Several Wisconsin electric utilities, offer special solar buy-back rates that purchase every kilowatt-hour (kWh) your system generates for 20 to 25 cents. WE Energies can provide additional buy down rebates.
